WILLIAM BLAKE
WILLIAM BLAKE A brief introduction about another famous romantic poet William Blake was born on 28th November 1757. He was an English poet, painter and printmaker. Unlike many well-known writers of his day, he was born into a family of moderate means. Though he had no formal schooling as a child, William Blake was apprenticed at the age of fourteen to engraver James Basire . In 1779, he began to study at The Royal Academy of Arts, but it was a journeyman engrave that he was to make his living. Largely unrecognized during his lifetime, William Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual arts of the Roman Age. His visual artistry led 21st-century critic Jonathan Jones to proclaim him "far and away the greatest artist Britain has ever produced". In 2002, he was placed at number 38 in the BBC's poll of the 100 Greatest Britons.
